Spring is here!

by Ed

Well Spring has truely arrived, here in the Northwest. That means all of my spare time is spent out in the garden. So I’ll be slowing down a little on the posts, for a while.

Gardening is great exercise and organic, home grown food is the healthiest food. So stop looking at your computer and get out in your garden. Even if you live in an apartment you can plant salad greens in pots.

What if you can’t afford the pots?

Hmm, to poor to buy gardening stuff. Well, what do you drink? If you drink anything from tetrapacks or plastic bottles, they work well. I cut 1 quart tetrapacks in half to start my seedlings. They might be a bit small for full grown veggies. How about yogurt containers? If you don’t buy them maybe you can scrounge from friends and family. Potting soil is the best thing for growing in pots, but if you know anyone with compost, that works too.
Now is this a health tips blog or a gardening on a shoestring blog? Any way, if you are serious about growing some veggies, you will find a way.

I am very pro-active gardener who lives in Calgary, Alberta. I love growing herbs, and this year I want to start growing a few Chinese herbs. I have also studied TCM - but I am not so experianced in what chinese herbs grow well in our Canadian climate. I would really appreciate any suggestions.
