It is possible, but not easy to get too much vitamin C. Personally, I don't like large doses of vitamins, but they work for many people. Vitamin C, besides boosting the immune system also acts as an antihistamine.

You know you are getting too much vitamin C when you start getting diarrhea. Generally that starts at over 10 grams a day, though some people have a lower tolerance. One important thing about large doses of vitamin C is that the body gets used to it. If you stop suddenly you will develop deficiency symptoms. If you are taking several grams a day, start cutting down 1 gram at a time, every three days or so. When you are down to a gram a day, either take it every other day, or take 500 millgrams a day for a while. Emergen-C has 1 gram of vitamin C in each packet.

My allergies are really bad this year. I've been drinking Emergen-C to give my immune system a boost. Is it possible to take too much vitamin C?
